Large Industrial Riveted Steel Cabinet

No Longer Available
  • Circa 1930s

This incredible steel 2-door cabinet from a Chicago factory has all the hallmark features of one-of-a-kind shop-built furniture that makes American industrial style so wonderful. It calls back to the days of ingenuity when someone in the factory could say, Hey Barney, we need a cabinet for all these paint cans, and Barney would take a pile of galvanized sheet metal and whip up a cabinet for you by the next day.

We love the imposing scale, the hand-riveted construction, the beveled door panels, the heavy-duty cast bronze self-closing hinges and the wonderfully crackled original - battleship gray paint. When the doors open, the interior is revealed to have 2 bays, each with a series of shelves within. The doors are secured with steel lift-latches. A rare, unique piece with lots of hard-working history.

    • Historical Style: Industrial
    • Condition Notes: The weathered finish is part of the nature of the piece. To prevent further wear and preserve the crackled paint, the cabinet has been coated with a clear matte lacquer.
